Skin Camouflage

20 months ago I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma removed from the side of my nose. The skin graft has left me with a round white patch about 7mm in diameter. Friends tell me it isn't very noticeable (I think to be kind) but to me it really is noticeable. I'm wondering if you could put me in touch with a clinic that could give me advice regarding skin camouflage. Thank you.

sorry, for reasons no one understands my reply to you does not transmit - so here's crossing fingers again!
you can apply sun protection under the skin camouflage (just allow a few minutes for the protection to be absorbed, and blot off with a tissue any excess).
skin camouflage is designed to mimic natural skin colours, when correctly applied it should remain in place 8-12 hours and be waterproof, however no product is fully rub proof.

Hi Robin,

Skin grafts on the nose usually become pale with time and often leave an 'indented patch'. While camouflage can help the colour discrepancy between your nose skin & the skin graft, any contour irregularity will not be addressed.

Many patients come and see me each year with similar problems. If they are keen to pursue a surgical option (scar revision) I cut out the skin graft and perform a skin flap which replaces the graft with skin of a similar colour and texture.
