For the last 25 years, after training as an Occupational Therapist in Oxford, Lindsey Skelt specialised in all aspects of dementia care, working in hospitals, residential and nursing homes and in the community. This gave her a broad insight into the needs of those suffering from the various types of dementia and, equally important, their family and carers. In 2005 along with a colleague, they set up their own business, Shires Therapy Ltd., offering a range of occupational therapy services, particularly dealing with memory loss and related issues, training for care staff in homes and giving advice, assistance and support to individuals and families.

There are many strategies which can be used to help people with problems either due to age or illness and she passionately believes that with specialised knowledge and care people can have a good quality of life, maintain wellbeing and independence.
