Dr Richard Ma

General Practitioner - MBChB, DCH, DRCOG, DFSRH, Dip GUM, MRCGP, MSc

Dr Richard Ma is a GP principal in North London and half time doctoral student at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He was trained in sexual and reproductive health at King's College Hospital, The Margaret Pyke Centre and The Mortimer Market Centre. He has an interest in public health medicine and worked at a health authority in East London before studying for a master's degree in public health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

He served a term as a diplomate representative on the council of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare and has been a member of Royal College of General Practitioner's Sex Drugs & HIV Group for the last seven years. He was the editor of the Sexually Transmitted Infections e-learning module for DFSRH. Until recently, he was the Sexual & Reproductive Health GP Champion for NHS London.

His doctoral thesis will examine doctors' motivation to deliver public health programmes with particular reference to chlamydia screening.

He writes regularly for The Practitioner.
