Dr. Baum is a Professor of Clinical Urology at Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Baum is currently the medical advisor to Vanguard Communications Group with headquarters in Denver, Colorado
Dr. Baum’s areas of expertise are practice management, ethical marketing for medical professionals, social media, telemedicine, and enhancing practice productivity. Dr. Baum has authored a column, The Bottom Line, for American Medical News for more than twenty years. He writes a weekly blog for SERMO.com and MedPage Today.
He has written ten books on practice management, the business of medicine, and books for laymen and women on topics of health and well-being. One of his books, Marketing Your Medical Practice-Ethically, Effectively, and Economically, is in its fourth edition and sold over 200,000 copies and has been translated into Spanish.
His latest book, The Business Basics of Building and Managing a Healthcare Practice, was co-authored with Dr. Marc Kahn, the new dean of the University of Nevada’s Medical School in Las Vegas. He has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles that have appeared in medical journals throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
