Dr Mary Sommerlad is a consultant dermatologist living and working in London. She is the lead Paediatric Dermatologist at her NHS Trust. Dr Mary studied medicine at UCL where she was awarded a First Class intercalated undergraduate degree in Immunology and the British Society of Immunology undergraduate Prize. She undertook her Dermatology training in the Royal London and Royal Free rotation which exposed her to understanding skin disease in all skin tones and in different cultures. She was awarded the RSM Hugh Wallace Prize and had a number of papers published during her training years. As a consultant, Dr Mary’s specialist interests include Paediatric Dermatology, Eczema and Acne. She has a postgraduate diploma in Child Health and acts as a reviewer for the Skin Deep Project which provides images of skin disease in children with skin of colour to the public. She has created online training resources for practice nurses and has participated in the BBC3 Series Skin.  She is passionate about imparting knowledge to the public and allied healthcare workers on skin health and skin disease. When not at work, Mary enjoys all things food and skincare related. Her two young children keep her energised and she loves to travel.
