Qualified in London in 1985. Has been a Consultant Paediatrician for 20 years first as an Acute Paediatrician in Bury for ten years and then as a Community Paediatrician in Bolton. Has developed an interest in childhood epilepsies and set up specialist services in Bury and Bolton for children and young people with epilepsy.

Has written extensively about childhood epilepsies and active in local and national research. Chair and organiser of the North West Children and Young Persons Epilepsy Interest Group. Other interests include paediatric neurodisability and palliative care.
