Anna Cooper

Co-founder of the Menstrual Health Project.

Since my early teens I have struggled with severe endometriosis symptoms and was officially diagnosed two weeks before my 18th birthday. I have come across a huge amount of medical gaslighting and invalidation throughout the years of battling endometriosis.

As a result, I now have had a total of 16 operations due to this disease which has meant I have a permanent ileostomy and urostomy, as well as a sacral nerve stimulator. I underwent a full hysterectomy which has resulted in surgical menopause at the age of 28.

It’s been a passion of mine to turn my advocating into something more substantial and I am incredibly proud of the work we are doing here at MHP.

Endometriosis has sadly taken so much from me and has impacted a huge portion of my life. I don’t want the next generation to suffer like I have and to be made to feel like they can’t discuss anything to do with menstrual health.
